    A "Historic" ocean liner

One somewhat historic ocean liner was an experimental or prototype ship.  It was the N.S. Savannah.

Built in 1956 (I believe) it's goal was to demonstrate that a commercial cargo vessel could be propelled by a nuclear power plant.

President Johnson mothballed the NS Savannah in 1964 faster than you can say "oil embargo".

The maritime industry has been a leader in innovation.

A friend of mine, whom I haven't seen for ten years or so was, I believe, PR officer for the NS Savannah. Henry TM Snee. Would it be useful if I can find his address? I think the Savannah was a passenger-carrying freighter, not a liner. As for innovation, how the devil do you get this application to preserve paragraphs? Charlezzzzz

    Good afternoon Charleszzzzz,

NS Savannah is definitely "historic" and easy enough to defend in this category.

Savannah was launched not to demonstrate passanger or cargo carriage but nuclear propulsion.

Not sure of your last sentence's meaning but Savannah is "historic".

Appreciate effort to locate the PR officer but it's not not necessary for our purposes here.

    Warm regards,
