Cesare Sorio
Cesare Sorio has an extensive background in the maritime industry, serving in the ranks from Cadet to Master on board Italian and American owned fleets with Gulf Oil Corporation, Carlo Cameli Armatore, Cogedar Line; and Universe Tankships. During his 12 years at sea he served as Master on tankers ranging from 28,000 DWT to 78,000 DWT, and a one year assignment as Staff Captain on a 20,000 GRT passenger ship. He has held positions with Esso International Services, Amoco International Oil Company, and Ultramar Shipping Company.

Sorio's activities ashore include all aspects of shipbuilding and ship conversion activities, vessel purchasing and sale, economics of transportation, and marine operations. He is owner and president of SJ Marine, Inc., of Stamford Connecticut, an independent maritime consulting group.

Sorio graduated first in his class from the Italian Merchant Marine Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree, and completed his graduate studies in Finance and Transportation at Northwestern University. During school breaks Sorio worked as a deck boy and seaman on board Italian flag coastal vessels.

Sorio is affiliated with the Italian Masters and Chief Engineers Association, the Institute of Marine Engineers, the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, is a member of the Council with the American Bureau of Shipping and Society of Marine Consultants, and served as director of the Liberian Shipowners Council - acting as Chairman of The Labor Committee.
