Currently head of the Loan & High Yield Bond Syndicate Group since May 2007, Daniel W. Whalen joined BNP Paribas's Syndication, Trading & Placement Group in July 1989 and became Managing Director & Co-Head in May 1997.
Mr. Whalen also spent two years in the Corporate Healthcare Group as Group Vice President. There he was mandated to build a five-person team providing corporate finance products to for-profit healthcare companies, with a focus on agented, equity-linked, structured middle-market financings.
Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Mr. Whalen spent one year with the LBO sponsor Delano & Kopperl, Inc., initiating leveraged transactions with undervalued companies and developing prospects for corporate advisory services. Mr. Whalen began his career at Bankers Trust Company, where he spent two years in the Energy Finance, Utilities Division, and developed new financial business with both existing and prospective utility company clients in the Central and Western United States. He also spent five years in the International Department, Asia and Middle East/Africa Groups, where he was responsible for relationship management, business development, and transaction execution, with a primarily correspondent bank client base.
Daniel W. Whalen graduated from Tufts University with a B.A. in Economics in 1980. He resides in New York City and Rumson, New Jersey, with his wife Susan and two daughters, Christina and Sydney.
