John R. McDonald Jr. is the founding partner of Hunthill Advisors, a New York based broker dealer that specializes in the placement of alternative asset products with institutional investors. Prior to founding Hunthill, he was the co-founder and managing partner of Metacapital Management, a hedge fund also based in New York. He started his career at Lehman Brothers, where he worked for seventeen years in various roles as a managing director including co-head of Global Fixed Income Sales and head of European Fixed Income Research. A graduate of Fairfield University, McDonald is a member of the Fairfield University Trustees Advisory Council. He also serves as the Treasurer of the YMCA Foundation Board in Red Bank, New Jersey. Having grown up on Long Island Sound in Connecticut he has enjoyed a lifelong relationship with the sea as a boater, sailor, and fisherman. He is an enthusiastic amateur maritime historian who is committed to understanding and preserving our maritime heritage.
