A trustee since 1998, Steven W. Jones served as a volunteer director of a youth development sailing program operated out of the South Street Seaport, 1991 through 1992. He is currently working on developing a Learn-to-Sail /Maritime Heritage summer program for talented New York City youth. Jones also serves on the board of directors for Sultana Projects, which was given the 2004 NMHS Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Maritime Education. In addition, Jones is the secretary of the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy.
Steven Jones is originally from New York, and was a professional in the exchange-traded derivatives industry. He holds a BA from Hampshire College and a M.S. from the University of Delaware.
Jones now lives on Maryland's Eastern Shore with his wife Beth and three children: Collins, George and Priscilla and currently teaches economics and American history. He has a keen interest in 19th century maritime history and enjoys outdoor sports and activities, which-- of course-- includes sailing.
